Easter has come and gone. It was very unusual not attending a church service on one of the most important holidays of the year. We did however host our parents for dinner to make it feel a bit more like a special day.
The govenor has decided to close schools for the remainder of the year. The new normal includes weekly zoom meetings with teachers on our iPads. We are ae to submit homework on the seesaw app as well. Homeschooling seems a bit more structured this way, so that is a positive.
As of now we are to start with again in 2 weeks, but I will be very surprised if that actually happens. Our projected peak of this pandemic in Iowa was to be last week and yesterday was our largest spike in positive cases this far. I'm betting on not returning to work for several more weeks.
The grocery stores have mellowed out. A person not wearing a mask is in the minority. There are still several items near impossible to find including: toilet paper, antibacterial soap, various cleaning supplies etc. Its different going out and having no social interaction with the people you pass in the aisles. I really pray that we can someday find a normal more comfortable than this one.
The stats today are nationally 772,446 positive cases of which over 41,000 have passed away. Globally there is said to be 2,435,196 reported positive cases of which 166,542 have passed. These numbers again may not be accurate as it is rumored there are countries or a country not reporting truthful numbers. In Iowa we are reporting 2,902 cases and 75 deaths. In Chickasaw county we are at 3 positive cases, 2 of which are recovered. I read this morning that in South Korea they are seeing 2 percent of recovered cases re testing positive. The fear is that these recovered patients may still be contagious.
